DBL Mando
Support
A disc golf scorecard that works on a course with no signal, keeps your rounds forever, and does not ask you to sign in.
Get in touch
Email andrewjpar@gmail.com. Tell me what happened, what you expected instead, and which iPhone you are on — that is usually enough to find it.
Bug reports about a specific round are much easier to chase if you include the course and roughly when you played it.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Scoring, your history, course layouts and all your stats work with no account and no internet connection. Signing in adds three things: your rounds are backed up, you can score together with friends on separate phones, and your history follows you to a new phone.
Why is it asking for my location?
Only after you tap something that needs it: the locate button on the course map, or Show conditions or Find courses near you on the home screen. It centres the map on you, works out how far each course is, and lists the nearest ones. It asks for while-using access only. Your exact position never leaves the phone; the weather card sends Apple Weather a position rounded to about a kilometre. Saying no leaves everything else working normally.
Does it work without signal?
Yes, and that is the point. Every tap is saved to your phone immediately. If you are signed in, changes queue up and sync themselves when you get signal back. You can score a full round in a valley with no bars and nothing is lost.
How do I find a course near me?
The Courses tab opens on a map of every course in the area, not just the ones you have played. A green flag is somewhere you have played; a plain grey dot is somewhere you have not. Tap any of them to open it — there is no "add" step, and nothing to manage.
My course has more than one layout
Plenty do. A course can hold as many layouts as you need — different tees, a short course, a seasonal setup — each with its own hole count and pars. Pick the one you are playing when you start a round, and your stats keep them apart, so nine holes is never compared against eighteen.
Why does a course start with the wrong pars?
DBL Mando ships with almost nothing about a course on purpose, because a layout somebody else measured is not ours to bundle. A new course starts as a guess, marked as unconfirmed. The first round you play there replaces the guess with the pars you actually played, and it is right from then on. You can also set them by hand from the course's page.
What is "Form"?
Scoring against par is a poor measure in disc golf, because courses that list the same par can play very differently. A round that is +4 on a hard course can be better golf than level on an easy one.
So Form compares each round to your own previous scores on that same layout. Negative is better. It needs three rounds at a course before it can say anything, which is why a new player sees a dash and a note about how many rounds are left.
The app is making fun of me
On a double bogey or worse you may get a one-line ribbing. It only ever goes to you and to people who have played several rounds on your phone — a guest on your card for the first time is never heckled — it stays quiet for the first two holes, and it says at most two things per person per round. If it is still not your thing, turn it off under Profile > Heckles.
Can I use it in the dark? Or in bright sun?
Yes. Profile > Appearance switches between light, dark, and following your phone. Dark mode is hard to read in direct sun, and light mode at dusk is a torch in your face, so it is worth knowing where the switch is before you need it.
Can I see my round without unlocking my phone?
While a round is going, the course, the hole you are on and everyone's scores appear on your lock screen. Nothing to turn on. If you would rather it did not, switch off Live Activities for DBL Mando in iOS Settings.
What does "blow-ups" mean?
Strokes spent going two or more over par on a hole, counted beyond a bogey. A 5 on a par 3 costs you one; a bogey costs you nothing. For most players this is a bigger lever on their score than birdies are, which is why it is on the front page.
Can I score for my whole group?
Yes. Add everyone to the card and score them all from one phone. They do not need the app or an account — guests work fine.
Someone is on my card who should not be
Remove them from the round setup screen. If you took yourself off by accident, tap Add player and you will be at the top of the list.
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Profile, and choose Delete Account. It is immediate and cannot be undone, and it disconnects your Apple ID from the app.
Rounds saved on your phone are not affected — the app keeps working without an account. To remove those too, delete the app.
What happens to rounds I hosted if I delete my account?
They go with you, including for the people you played with, because the round belongs to the card it was scored on. Rounds somebody else hosted survive; only your entry in them is removed. The app tells you this before you confirm.
Why can I not see my old rounds on a new phone?
Rounds live on the phone that scored them. Sign in on both phones and they will sync across. Without an account there is nothing to sync from.
Is it free?
Yes, all of it, with no advertising and nothing sold. If that ever changes, scoring a round and reading your own history will stay free.
